READ THE TEXT IN BOLD TO FIND YOUR INSTRUCTIONS

If you bought your store domain through Shopify, you can follow the first set of instructions below to set up your custom subdomain.

If you use a different DNS service, you can use the 2nd set of instructions below as your guide, where we use Cloudflare as an example.

Feel free to contact us at [email protected] if you need help!

Setting up a custom subdomain on Shopify

Watch the video for a step-by-step walkthrough, or follow the full instructions below the video.

Go to your Shopify admin and select Domains under your Online Store in the panel on the left. The URL should be mystore.myshopify.com/admin/settings/domains.

Find your Primary domain (the one where customers find your store) and click Manage on the right.

Click on DNS settings at the top, then select CNAME record from the Add custom record dropdown.

In the Add CNAME record popup, choose the subdomain that you want and point it to beacons.fly.dev. Common choices for subdomain include "partners" (in the example below) and "affiliates", but feel free to choose your own.

After you hit Confirm, you should see the CNAME record that you just added in your settings.

Almost done! Return to your Social Selling app settings and complete setup by filling in your full subdomain URL (e.g., partners.mystore.com) and hitting Submit. You can use the Check status button to view the status of your subdomain, which can take up to 48 hours to set up but usually happens much faster. When your status shows "Active", that means your affiliate portal is live at your custom subdomain!

Setting up a custom subdomain on Cloudflare

Watch the video for a step-by-step walkthrough, or follow the full instructions below the video.

If you use Cloudflare or another DNS service instead of Shopify, setting up your custom subdomain is still very easy!

We'll demonstrate how to set up the right CNAME record in Cloudflare — as always, just email us at [email protected] if you run into any issues.

Within your Cloudflare account, just click on DNS at the top, and then use the Add record button to add a new CNAME record. The Name field is the subdomain that you want to use, and the Target is beacons.fly.dev as shown in the screenshot below:

Make sure that the Proxy status says "DNS only" — if you see an orange icon and "Proxied" (see below), just click it once to switch it to DNS only:

After you click Save, you're done in Cloudflare!
