Connecting your Instagram account will unlock a lot of value for your Beacons account, but the setup can be a little tricky.

1. First, set your Instagram as a Creator Account or a Business Account. Personal Instagram accounts won't work.
Check and change the type of IG account you have
Go to your profile page on Instagram and Select Account, then scroll to the bottom of the options
If you see Switch to Professional account option, that means your account is of personal type. See how to change type of Instagram account?↗
If you see Switch account type option, click on it. You can see the option to choose the two account types you don’t currently have.
For example, if you have a business account you would have the option to switch to a personal account or creator account.
Switch your Personal account to a Creator account:
Choose Switch to a professional account and click Continue to go through the onboarding steps.
You can choose a category that best describes what you do from the options provided and then click Done.
Select account type as Creator and then click Next.
You have successfully converted your Instagram account to Creator type.
2. Grant Beacons the minimum permissions to connect to your account. We use a secure 3rd party provider to authorize the connection. We never see or store your password.
3. Ensure that your Instagram account is connected to a Facebook Business Page. (FYI: Not just a Facebook Account)
* In other words, if you are having trouble connecting the Page to your Instagram account, please confirm that you have 2-factor authentication enabled on your Facebook account!
Check if your Instagram is linked to a Facebook Page
Go to your Instagram profile on the app.
Click on Edit Profile.
Under the Profile Information / Public Business Information section, select Page.
Here,
If you are asked to Connect to a Facebook Page, it means that your Instagram account is NOT linked to a Facebook page. See how to link an Instagram account to a Facebook page ↗
If you are asked to Manage Connection, it means that your Instagram account is linked to a Facebook page. 🎉
Go to your Instagram profile on the app.
Click on Edit Profile.
Under the Profile Information / Public Business Information section, select Page.
Tap Create Facebook Page or Connect an Existing Page.
Choose a Page from your Pages that you'd like to connect to or select Create a New Facebook Page.
Tap Done after you've selected a Page or created a new Page.
