Custom domain
A custom domain is something like mywebsite.com. If you are trying to do something like links.mywebsite.com, you are trying to do a subdomain, which is covered in the section below.
Go to this article and follow the instructions to "Advanced DNS Zone Editor" under A records. https://www.hostgator.com/help/article/how-to-change-dns-zones-mx-cname-and-a-records#arecord
Scroll down to Custom Records
Select the domain from the dropdown menu that you wish to use
Go to the "Add a Record" section
In the Name field, enter your @
Leave the TTL field blank
In the Type, select A
In the Address field, enter 213.188.192.2
Click "Add Record" to save the record to your settings
Go to the "Add a Record" section again (if you can't complete steps 10-15, that's ok, sometimes Hostgator doesn't show you the AAAA type)
In the Name field, enter your @
Leave the TTL field blank
In the Type, select AAAA
In the Address field, enter 2a09:8280:1:9032:60eb:1797:5542:d0db
Click "Add Record" to save the record to your settings
Custom subdomain
A custom subdomain is something like links.mywebsite.com. If you are trying to do something like mywebsite.com, you are trying to do a domain, which is covered in the section above.

Select the domain from the dropdown menu that you wish to use
Go to the "Add a Record" section
In the Name field, enter your your subdomain. If you want links.mywebsite.com, enter links. If you want bio.mywebsite.com enter bio
Leave the TTL field blank
In the Type, select CNAME
In the CNAME field, enter beacons.fly.dev
Click "Add Record" to save the record to your settings
