How to Use Unique Email Activations: Different Email Sign Up Sources
Updated over 3 months ago

Most creators will want to keep things simple and have one welcome email or sequence sent to all subscribers, no matter their source of signups. However, for more advanced users, you may want to have different signup sources for different welcome emails depending on your needs.

For example, you might want to run a giveaway, and have old and new subscribers signup at a unique signup form, and deliver unique instructions to them to redeem the giveaway.

There are 2 main kinds of triggers for welcome emails + sequences that can be done on Beacons:

1.) Email Signup Form Subscriber

1. Unique Form + Welcome for Email Signup Form Subscriber

Let’s assume you read this guide about how to setup a welcome email already and have a great primary signup form to welcome email subscriber flow. 🤪

Follow the following steps to create another unique signup to welcome flow:

  1. Create a new signup form by going into your Link in Bio tab and clicking “Add Block”

  2. Add the “Email & SMS” block

  3. Pro-tip: Any and all Email/SMS block is titled “Email & SMS”. This block title is editable. Click into the title field to edit to title (see image below). Rename it with a unique title. You will see in the welcome email steps below why this will be helpful.

  4. Fill in the rest of the form builder with copy and settings you want. Make sure to create a title / description that addresses the reason you created a unique form in the first place.

Great, now you’ve set up your unique form.

If your default welcome email automation works for these signups, you’re all set, as your first welcome email is by default set to fire to signups from any and all forms. However, if you’ve created a unique separate form, chances are you might want a unique separate welcome automation / sequence.

Here are the steps for that:

  1. Go to your Email Marketing App (left hand navigation bar) > Automations (top navigation bar).

  2. In this step, you can either start a new automation (click the blue “+ New Automation” button) OR duplicate your previously built welcome email as a template to edit

  3. Once you are in the welcome/sequence editor, be sure to checkbox the respective form built in the steps above.

    1. Click into the top “Start automation when” to pop-up trigger options.

    2. Pick the “After someone joins an email list” option.

    3. Choose the specific Email List you just created by the name! (Remember when I said this would be helpful?)

  4. When selecting a unique form to trigger a unique welcome flow, you might unintentionally knock off global trigger settings. We recommend you check the triggers for your other automations/welcomes to make sure they’re all mapped correctly still.

  5. Create your unique welcome email!

Situations where you might want to have unique welcome automations:

  • You’re running an activation for signups, and you want to say or deliver something unique to these signups. Like a random giveaway.

  • You have audiences interested in different kinds of emails or content

  • Instead of employing an email signup form block to collect emails, some creators will employ a free store item to achieve the same thing (get a lead).

  • You’re running promotion for a specific event or thing, and you want to create an audience group to gauge interest and distribute information about the subject of said promotion.
