Updated over 4 months ago

Are you looking to migrate your audience from ConvertKit to Beacons? Moving your contacts can seem daunting, but with the right steps, you can do it smoothly and efficiently. This guide will walk you through the process of exporting your audience data from ConvertKit and importing it into your new platform.

Step 1: Log in to Your ConvertKit Account

  1. Open your web browser and go to the ConvertKit login page.

  2. Enter your credentials and click on the “Log In” button to access your account.

Step 2: Export Your Audience Data

  1. Navigate to the Subscribers Page:

    • Once logged in, click on the “Subscribers” tab from the sidebar menu. This will take you to the page where all your subscribers are listed.

  2. Export Subscribers:

    • Look for the “Export” button, usually located at the top right corner of the subscriber list. Click on it.

    • ConvertKit will generate a CSV file containing your subscriber data. This may take a few moments depending on the size of your audience.

    • Once the file is ready, it will be downloaded automatically to your computer, typically in your “Downloads” folder.

Step 3: Prepare Your Data

  1. Open the CSV File:

    • Locate the downloaded CSV file and open it using a spreadsheet application like Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or any other CSV editor.

  2. Review and Clean Your Data:

    • Ensure that the data is complete and formatted correctly. This includes checking for missing fields or any inconsistencies. Common fields include email addresses, first names, last names, and subscription status.

    • Remove any unnecessary columns that your new platform may not require.

  3. Save Your Data:

    • Once your data is clean and ready, save the file. Make sure it remains in CSV format, as most platforms accept this format for importing.

Step 4: Import Your Data to Beacons

  1. Head to your Audience Manager

  2. Find the Import Tool:

    1. Locate the import or upload tool

  3. Upload Your CSV File:

    • Follow the instructions provided by your new platform to upload the CSV file. This usually involves clicking an “Import” or “Upload” button and selecting the CSV file you prepared earlier.

  4. Verify Your Data:

    • After the import is complete, review the imported data in your new platform to ensure that everything has been transferred correctly. Check for any discrepancies or errors.

Step 5: Confirm and Test

  1. Send a Test Email:

    • To ensure that your audience has been correctly imported, consider sending a test email or campaign to a small segment of your list.

  2. Monitor for Issues:

    • Keep an eye on delivery rates, open rates, and any bounce or unsubscribe notifications to make sure everything is functioning as expected.

    • Clean up the list if needed!
